Billionaire Elon Musk on Wednesday expressed regret over some of his posts against US President Donald Trump, saying he “went too far”. “I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,” the Tesla chief wrote on X.Musk vs TrumpThe public feud between Elon Musk and Donald Trump reached its pinnacle when the Tesla company owner made a striking allegation against the US President. In a post on his own platform X, Musk had written, “Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out,” he further added.Jeffrey Epstein was a financier who amassed significant wealth, allegedly by managing money for billionaires, though much about his financial dealings remained shrouded in secrecy. Over the years, he cultivated relationships with a host of influential figures, including former US Presidents, British royalty, and prominent Hollywood personalities. His downfall began in 2008, when he pleaded guilty in Florida to charges of soliciting prostitution from a minor. He served just 13 months in jail under a controversial work-release programme- an outcome widely criticised as lenient given the severity of the allegations against him.Musk, however, deleted some of his most damaging X posts against Trump, seemingly attempting to walk back the explosive claim. Another tweet he deleted is where he apparently supported Trump’s impeachment as President and that JD Vance should replace him as the US President.Trump called Musk ‘a big-time drug addict’The first indication of the feud easing between Musk and Trump appeared earlier today when the US. The President sounded more open and friendly when asked if he would talk to the Tesla CEO.When asked: “Do you plan to speak to Elon Musk on the phone any time soon?” The US President replied: “Umm… I haven’t really thought about it actually. I would imagine he wants to speak to me. If I were him, I would want to speak to me. Maybe he’s already called. You’d have to ask him. Ask him if he’s already called. But I’d have no problems with it,” Trump said at a White House conference.Trump on Thursday expressed rare public disappointment after the billionaire sharply criticised Trump’s flagship “One Big Beautiful Bill”. “Look, Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will anymore. I was surprised,” Trump said in the Oval Office, reacting to Musk’s statement in which he called the legislation an “abomination.”He dismissed Musk as “a man who has lost his mind”, labelled him “a big-time drug addict” over alleged ketamine use, and claimed Musk had “gone CRAZY!” in response to his criticism of EV mandates. Trump also issued a warning, saying Musk could face serious consequences and potentially lose government contracts if he supported Democrats. Despite a brief moment of softening, Trump ultimately gave Musk the cold shoulder, stating, “Wish Elon well,” but making it clear their relationship is finished and he has no intention of mending ties. Will Trump respond?Musk, never one to back down from a dogfight, whether it’s wild allegations about paedophilia or moving his entire business to a different state, has done the unthinkable — apologised. It’s a rare moment of retreat from a man who usually tweets like he’s riding a SpaceX rocket on Red Bull. The ball’s now in Trump’s court: will he ignore it, accept it, or take the low road and mock Musk’s alleged drug habit or call him a loser for getting a black eye? Given Trump’s track record, a Truth Social post involving the words “Elon,” “drugs,” and “loser” is probably already being drafted.
